Restrict Screen Time

Action steps limit unhealthy foods in local schools:

  1. Work with school wellness councils/school officials to limit screen time in after school programs. Limiting the amount of time spent in front of computers and television or the computer in favor of physical activity in before and after school programs, can help to encourage a lifetime of healthy behavior.

  2. Promote after school activities that provide alternatives to screen time.
School extracurricular activities that promote physical activity can be effective in providing alternatives to screen time. Before and after school programs that promote physical activity or opens school recreation space to students can decrease screen time hours and encourage healthy active living.
